Bangladesh recommended to graduate from LDCs
In the meeting, they recommended that Bangladesh can graduate from LDCs in line with General Assembly resolutions 59/209 and 67/221.
The United Nations Committee for Development Policy (CDP) has recommended for Bangladesh's graduation from LDCs (Least Developed Countries) after the country met the criteria for graduation for the second consecutive time.
The CPD held its plenary meeting, including the triennial review on the LDC category, from 22 to 26 February.
In the meeting, they recommended that Bangladesh can graduate from LDCs in line with General Assembly resolutions 59/209 and 67/221.

The committee recommended that support be given to the graduating countries by development and trading partners as it is more important than ever. These supports include extending access to relevant ISMs for an appropriate period, addressing challenges arising from Covid-19, capacity building etc.
The same recommendations were given for Lao PDR and Nepal as well because they are also graduating.
The results of the meeting will be communicated formally to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
