Bashar irritated with questions over Tamim's captaincy

Bashar told The Business Standard (TBS), "I don't know why there are questions over his captaincy. It's not the right time. But I would say that I am really impressed with the way he handled his bowlers."

Tamim Iqbal led Bangladesh for the first time in ODIs as regular skipper in the three-match series against the West Indies, 10 months after he had succeeded Mashrafe Mortaza. He started off well as Bangladesh clinched the series 3-0.

Despite the success, speculation has been abound regarding his captaincy in the media. But former Bangladesh cricket team captain and currently one of the selectors Habibul Bashar believes that this is not the right time to evaluate and is extremely annoyed with questions over Tamim's captaincy.

Bashar told The Business Standard (TBS), "I don't know why there are questions over his captaincy. It's not the right time. But I would say that I am really impressed with the way he handled his bowlers."

Bashar was all praises for the skipper and the team, saying that Bangladesh played very well after returning from a long layoff. "The performance could've been better. We lived up to the expectations on our return to international cricket. But there are always rooms for improvement. Overall, it was a great series for us," Bashar added.

Shakib Al Hasan, who made a comeback to international cricket after serving a one-year suspension, bagged the player of the series award. Bashar is not at all surprised, saying that he knew Shakib would start from where he left off. "We all knew that Shakib would regain his form in no time. Everyone needs some time to regain their form, but Shakib didn't take much time to do so."
