Miles Morales gets his own 'Clone Saga'

Miles Morales and Peter Parker both have relatively different experiences as Spider-Man. However, Miles is about to undergo his own version of Parker's most intriguing storylines.

Miles is revisiting one of the more controversial storylines in Spider-Man history with Marvel Entertainment announcing that "Clone Saga" will begin in April's issue of the Miles Morales: Spider-Man comic book series.

The original "Clone Saga" storyline ran from 1994 through 1996 across all of Marvel's Spider-Man comic book series, with an increasingly complicated plot in which Peter Parker was revealed to be a clone of himself, only for the original — calling himself Ben Reilly — temporarily taking over as Spider-Man before it was subsequently revealed that Parker was the original, and Reilly the clone… but not before multiple additional clones had also been introduced, and dispatched.

The storyline became so complicated — in part because of editorial confusion — that a special issue satirizing Marvel's creative process, Spider-Man: 101 Ways to End the Clone Saga, was published ahead of the storyline's resolution.

The new "Clone Saga" story promises to be far more straightforward, with writer Saladin Ahmed continuing plot threads that have been running in the series since its beginning, as the mysterious villain the Assessor unleashes three distinct clones of Miles Morales on Brooklyn.

The storyline will be illustrated by Carmen Carnero (Captain Marvel), who also designed the new clone characters.

"Clone Saga" will begin in Miles Morales: Spider-Man No. 25, available digitally and in comic book stores in April.
