Moner Bondhu and EMK center celebrate World Mental Health Day 2019

A day-long observation of World Mental Health Day 2019 took place on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at EMK Center.

A series of talks and free psychological counselling sessions were organized in collaboration by Moner Bondhu and EMK Center throughout the day.

All of the events were based on this year's theme "Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention".

The first session of the day was a panel discussion titled "We Care", where organizations working on suicide prevention shared their activities and experience with the audience and informed them about services available to prevent suicide and for mental healthcare.

Free and confidential consultation with psychological counsellors was provided to visitors from 12 pm to 5 pm by Moner Bondhu counselors Sumaita Saba and Zayed Bin Farid.

An Art Therapy Session produced many beautiful creations by the visitors, children and adults alike. The participants were introduced to colour theory in this session. They also learned how art therapy is used as a great way to take care of mental health.

This session was conducted by artist Najmun Nahar Keya. The participants were then encouraged to create their own art to express whatever was on their mind and the end result was a vibrant collection of positivity.

The last session of the day-long observation was called "Let's talk with Iresh Zaker", where the actor talked about mental healthcare and well-being.

The session also had a segment where a speaker shared his suicidal thoughts and how he found positivity to fight them.

The day ended with a casual networking session between the visitors and organizers at the EMK Center Cafeteria.
