Earlier on 26 November, Papul's wife Selina and daughter Wafa applied for anticipatory bail in the High Court.

Before that on 11 November, Deputy Director of the ACC Md Salahuddin filed a case against four people including Kazi Papul and his wife for laundering Tk148 crore along with illegal assets worth Tk2.31 crore. The other accused in the case are Papul's daughter Wafa Islam and Selina's sister Jasmine Pradhan.
