The latest figures take the country's dengue death toll to 271 this year, according to a press release issued today (5 October) by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the nine deaths, two were reported in Barishal division, three in Dhaka North City Corporation, and one each in Chattogram, Khulna, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
In September, 148 people died from dengue, the highest monthly death toll recorded so far this year.
From January to May, dengue claimed five lives, followed by 13 deaths in June, 36 in July, 43 in August and 148 in September.
Meanwhile, 1,988 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries this year to 82,335.
The cumulative number of dengue cases reported across the country has now reached 88,360.
