East West University celebrates 30th founding anniversary
East West University (EWU) celebrated its 30th founding anniversary with a day-long programme at its campus in Aftabnagar, Dhaka, yesterday (26 September), bringing together members of the university community, students and alums.
The anniversary programme featured a balloon release, rally, reflection session and cultural performances highlighting the university's three-decade journey in higher education and research, according to the press release.
The celebrations began in the morning with the release of colourful balloons in the presence of members of the Board of Trustees, university administration, faculty members, students and alums.

Following the inauguration, participants joined a rally that moved around the campus and surrounding areas.
A reflection session and cultural programme were later held on the university's open premises.
EWU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Shams Rahman delivered the welcome address.
Professor Dr Anindita Paul spoke on behalf of the faculty members, while Rozina Parvin addressed the programme on behalf of the university's administrative officers.
Dr Rubana Huq, vice-chancellor emerita of Asian University for Women (AUW) and an EWU alumna, also spoke at the programme representing the university's alums.
EWU Board of Trustees Member Munize Manzur spoke on behalf of the board. At the same time, former EWU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr MM Shahidul Hassan shared memories of his time at the university.
EWU Founder Vice-Chancellor and Board of Trustees Chairperson Professor Dr Mohammed Farashuddin attended the event as the chief guest.
In his address, Farashuddin reflected on the university's 30-year journey and its development since its establishment.
During the reflection session, speakers recalled EWU's journey, which began in September 1996 with six faculty members and 20 students.
They highlighted the university's achievements in higher education and research over the past three decades and discussed its future direction.
Speakers also outlined a strategic vision to strengthen EWU's global academic standing in the coming years.
Students, alums, and faculty members presented cultural performances throughout the programme and at the conclusion of the anniversary celebration.
Members of the Board of Trustees, the pro-vice-chancellor, treasurer, deans of different faculties, department chairpersons, faculty members, current students and alums attended the programme.
