Ctg customs finds 19 engines, 2 dismantled vehicles in consignment declared as parts
NBR flags the consignment as a significant revenue-evasion risk.
Customs authorities in Chattogram have found 19 used engines, various old motor parts and two dismantled vehicles in a Japan-imported consignment declared as used motor parts and engines.
Maitree Automobile of Arakan Road in Chattogram's Chandgaon imported the consignment, while JP Express Ltd of Kh-197, Khilkhet, Namapara, Dhaka, served as the clearing and forwarding agent, according to a press release issued by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) yesterday (16 September).
Based on a tip-off, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate and Customs House ICD locked the consignment on 1 September. It was covered by Bill of Entry No C-9766, dated 30 July 2026, the release added.

It also said that authorities began examining the consignment on 15 September. After two days of inspection, they found 19 used engines, various types of old motor parts, and two vehicles in dismantled condition.
A detailed examination report is being prepared, and the process of taking legal action under the relevant laws is underway, it added.
The NBR also said the consignment carries a significant risk of revenue evasion.
The revenue authority said strict legal action would be taken under the overall direction of the NBR chairman and with the cooperation of the director general of Customs Intelligence.
