Two RNB members held in Sylhet over ticket black marketing
Officials said train tickets, mobile phones allegedly used to collect and sell tickets, voice messages, and other evidence were seized from them.
A mobile court of the Sylhet district administration detained two members of the Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB) at Sylhet railway station last night (8 September) for illegally collecting train tickets and selling them on the black market.
Abu Taher of Sunamganj Sadar upazila and Sanjoy Das of Dirai upazila were detained red-handed during a raid at around 10:30 pm, according to the district administration.
Officials said train tickets, mobile phones allegedly used to collect and sell tickets, voice messages, and other evidence were seized from them.
During preliminary questioning, they reportedly admitted to illegally obtaining tickets online and selling them through various channels.
SM Shafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sylhet Railway Police Station, said the two were kept in railway police custody pending further instructions from the authorities.
Executive Magistrate Rakibul Alam said instructions had been given to file regular cases against the detainees and take further legal action.
He said the district administration would continue drives against ticket black marketing in the public interest.
