foodpanda introduces 24/7 accident insurance for active riders
foodpanda Bangladesh has introduced fully funded personal accident insurance for its active delivery riders, offering them protection during deliveries and in their personal time.
According to a press release, any rider who completes at least one delivery in a week will be eligible. The company said the initiative was the first of its kind for food delivery riders in Bangladesh.
The programme was formalised through a partnership agreement signed by foodpanda and digital insurance platform Bimafy at foodpanda's headquarters in Dhaka, with officials from both organisations present.

Co-founder and Managing Director of foodpanda Bangladesh Ambareen Reza, Zubair BA Siddiky and officials from both organisations attended the signing ceremony.
Under the policy, riders will receive Tk100,000 in the event of accidental death, permanent total disability, complete loss of sight in both eyes or the loss of multiple limbs.
The policy will provide Tk50,000 for certain permanent partial disabilities, including the loss of sight in one eye or the loss of one hand or foot, subject to its terms and conditions.
Head of Logistics at foodpanda Bangladesh, Mukitur Rahman Khan, said the company's priority was the safety and well-being of delivery partners. "By fully funding personal accident insurance, we hope our delivery partners will have greater peace of mind and round-the-clock protection whenever they are on the road," he said. The insurance initiative forms part of pandahearts, foodpanda's rider-support programme focused on safety, wellbeing, personal development, community and welfare benefits. foodpanda also provides riders with discounted healthcare packages and mobile data plans, as well as monthly instalment facilities for electric bicycles.
