The first phase, Operation Epic Fury, accounts for 14 deaths and 417 wounded service members.
Seven of the deaths were classified as combat-related, or hostile, while seven were classified as non-hostile, including deaths caused by accidents or listed as undetermined. The casualties involved multiple branches, including the US Navy and Air Force.
Overseas operations
The second category covers casualties recorded from 7 July, following the breakdown of a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran and the official end of a ceasefire declared by President Donald Trump.
This phase has recorded four hostile deaths and 341 wounded service members. All four fatalities were from the US Army.
Across both operational periods, the Army has suffered the largest share of US military losses, accounting for 11 deaths and 589 injuries.
The casualty figures come as US lawmakers debate the course of the conflict and whether Washington should continue pursuing diplomacy with Tehran.
Republican Senator Roger Wicker has urged Trump to abandon diplomatic negotiations with Iran and allow US forces to destroy the country's conventional military infrastructure and restore freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
