Grameenphone Employees Union (GPEU) held a human chain and sit-in programme in front of the National Labour Building on Thursday demanding the immediate reinstatement of Mia Mohammad Shafikur Rahman Masud, general secretary of GPEU.

Earlier on Wednesady, they staged a protest in front of the company's headquarter at the Bashundhara Residential area with the same demand.

According to an earlier press release issued by GPEU, Mia Masud was terminated at 5 pm on October 27 under Section 26 of the Labour Act-2006.
The press release alleged that the telecommunications company planned to conduct a massive layoff and Mia Masud tried to stop that by sending letters to the different government offices.
Mia Masood was a senior specialist in Business Governance and Internal Compliance in GP's Business Division.
