Walton starts PCBA exports to USA

Walton has commenced exports of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) to the United States. The shipment reinforces Bangladesh's emergence as a player in advanced technology manufacturing.

The inaugural export shipment was flagged off on Thursday (18 June) at Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC's headquarters in Chandra, Gazipur.

Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister and Science and Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam, along with Prime Minister's ICT Adviser Rehan Asif Asad, formally inaugurated the PCBA export with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Gazipur-1 lawmaker Md Mujibur Rahman, Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC Managing Director S M Mahbubul Alam, and Directors S M Nurul Alam Rezvi and S M Monjurul Alam Ovee were also present.

The PCBAs manufactured by Walton in Bangladesh will be used in security devices integrated with gunshot detection and emergency response systems in the United States.

The products are being imported by SAFEPRO Technologies Inc, a Wisconsin-based technology company that provides security solutions for educational institutions and public facilities across the United States.

Walton described the export as a significant step in Bangladesh's ambition to become a hub for advanced technology manufacturing.

In addition to meeting domestic demand, Walton exports PCBAs and other technology products to international markets, strengthening Bangladesh's position in the global value chain.

During their visit, the minister and the Prime Minister's ICT adviser toured Walton's manufacturing facilities, commending the company's operational scale and technological advancement.

"We are highly impressed by the scale, sophistication and quality of Walton's manufacturing facilities. Walton has demonstrated that Bangladesh is capable of producing world-class technology products," Faqir Mahbub Anam said.

"Walton manufactures a wide range of electronics and technology products and exports them to markets around the world, including the United States. Walton is a source of national pride," he added.

The minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting domestic industries and improving their global competitiveness.

"In the proposed budget for FY2026–27, we have introduced initiatives to encourage locally manufactured products and are reviewing the tax structure to provide greater incentives for Bangladeshi industries to expand," he said.

Earlier, the minister and the Prime Minister's ICT adviser were welcomed at Walton headquarters and attended a documentary presentation on Walton's journey and achievements.

They also visited the product display centre and toured facilities, including the Surface Mount Technology motherboard production unit, the television panel clean room, the PCB manufacturing unit, and the mould and die facilities.

Walton operates a large-scale industrial complex in Kaliakair, Gazipur, manufacturing refrigerators, compressors, televisions, air conditioners, laptops, desktop computers, mobile phones, fans, VRF and chiller units, electrical and home appliances, elevators, and other technology products.

The company has established dedicated facilities for research and innovation, quality control, and international business operations.

Carrying the "Made in Bangladesh" label, Walton products are currently exported to more than 55 countries across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Americas.

The company said it is expanding its global footprint, aiming to reach more than 100 countries and become a leading global technology brand.
