Islami Bank board representative meets employees
Mohammad Zahir Hussain, executive director of Bangladesh Bank and authorised representative for the board affairs of Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC, called for renewed professionalism and resilience at the bank during a meeting with its officials and employees.
The meeting at Islami Bank Tower on Wednesday (17 June) was attended in person by senior executives from the head office, while officials and employees from across the country participated virtually.
Md Altaf Hossain, acting managing director, presided over the programme.
Engineer Mohammad Jamal Uddin Mazumder and Dr M Kamal Uddin Jasim, additional managing directors, also addressed the event.
As the chief guest, Mohammad Zahir Hussain described the bank as a systemically important institution in Bangladesh's financial sector.
He noted that it is closely linked to Bangladesh's import and export operations, remittance flows, foreign trade, and the financial activities of millions of entrepreneurs and citizens. "Its stability is therefore not merely an institutional concern, but a key pillar of national economic stability," he said.
He said the bank has achieved exemplary status at home and abroad due to the honesty, efficiency, professionalism, and dedication of its officials and employees.
He acknowledged that the bank had navigated several adverse situations in recent years.
"The true strength of an institution endures and can be revitalised through effective leadership, proper guidance, and collective effort," he said.
He stated that Bangladesh Bank has taken timely and significant measures in response to recent developments and to safeguard the country's overall financial stability.
He affirmed that, under the oversight and cooperation of Bangladesh Bank, its operations will be conducted professionally, transparently, and with accountability.
He added that the process of forming a strong, efficient, and widely accepted board of directors would be completed in due course, in accordance with the regulatory authority's directives.
He called on all officials and employees to uphold honesty, efficiency, and the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
