Khelaghar, a national children's organisation, said it wants the abusers of children and women to face speedy trials.

It made the demand at a human chain organised by the Dhaka Metropolitan South Committee in front of the National Press Club on Friday morning.

Speakers at the event said that the torture of children and women is on the rise across the country. In some instances, children and women are killed after being sexually abused.

They stressed that children and women are not safe. Due to the length of trials and the lack of justice, the criminals are becoming more dangerous. In some places, the perpetrators have become monstrous under the political umbrella.

Speakers said they are protesting on the streets against impunity, lengthy trials and political support, plus demanding exemplary punishment for perpetrators.

"We want a safe life for children. We want a humane Bangladesh where children can live," the speakers added.

Khelaghar made two demands at Friday's human chain. One is to bring the perpetrators of child abuse to justice as soon as possible and the other is to repeal the bail clause for both abusers of children and women as well as murderers.

The leaders of the organisation added that they do not want the untimely death of any child, nor their cries.

"With the safe upbringing of today's child, Khelaghar dreams of a brighter Bangladesh," they added.
