Love rivalry turns deadly, labourer killed in Kamrangirchar
Kamrangirchar police arrested Sabbir around 9pm on Thursday following a raid in the area
A 20-year-old labourer was fatally wounded in Kamrangirchar on Wednesday morning after his co-worker allegedly used a blade to sever his throat in response to a love dispute. The primary suspect was apprehended by police the following evening.
The victim, Yakub Ali (20), worked at a Matador company. Police said his co-worker Sabbir (19), who worked in the same company carried out the killing over a dispute as both men liked the same girl.
Kamrangirchar police arrested Sabbir around 9pm on Thursday following a raid in the area. Officer-in-charge Golam Faruk confirmed the arrest to The Business Standard.
"Sabbir was identified and arrested with the help of information technology," he said, adding that he has been sent to court to give a confessional statement under Section 164.
Earlier, around 1:15am on Wednesday, fellow workers found Yakub with his throat slit inside a bathroom of a tin-shed residential building behind Madhu City in the Kalu Nagar area under Kamrangirchar police station.
He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he died around 4am while undergoing treatment.
The victim's family has filed a murder case with the police station over the incident.
