The education boards have not yet fixed any date for holding the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations.

But they say they are ready to hold the examinations maintaining health guidelines, and need 15 days to make the arrangements.

They made the announcement after the inter-boards meeting was held at the Dhaka Education Board on Thursday.

As per the meeting discussion, one or maximum two candidate will sit on a bench to avoid the spread of coronavirus.

Professor Md Abdul Alim, chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Jashore, told reporters that they have prepared questions and answer scripts for the HSC exams.

"We are ready to hold the exams. The Education Ministry will give us 15 days to make final preparation. There is no chance to sit more than two students on a bench," he said.

"We have not fixed the exam date. The ministry will fix it," he added.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Md Ziaul Haque said candidates for this year's Junior School Certificate (JSC) and equivalent examinations will not be promoted to the next class without an evaluation.

The classes conducted at educational institutions until March 15, classes telecast on Sangsad Television, and those held online will be considered in the evaluation process, said the chairman, after the meeting.

He further said, if the coronavirus situation in the country becomes conducive for reopening educational institutions, students will be evaluated in person.

"There is no chance of auto-promotion. Every student will be promoted to the next class through an evaluation," he said.

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education will announce the decision on promotion of the fifth and sixth grades, he said while responding to reporters' query.
