Hadi murder: Further investigation report submission set for 19 Feb
This marks the seventh extension granted to the investigating officer to file the supplementary report
A Dhaka court has once again deferred the submission of the further investigation report in the murder case over the killing of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, fixing 19 February as the new date.
Today (15 February) had been set for filing the report, but the investigating agency, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), failed to submit it on time.
Subsequently, the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam rescheduled the date for submission.
This marks the seventh extension granted to the investigating officer to file the further investigation report in the case.
Sub-Inspector Md Rukunuzzaman of the prosecution wing of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police confirmed the development.
Earlier, on 6 January, the investigation officer, Detective Branch Inspector Faisal Ahmed, submitted a charge sheet against 17 accused.
On 15 January, the complainant, Inqilab Mancha Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber, filed a petition expressing dissatisfaction with the report, prompting the court to order further investigation by the CID.
According to the case statement, Hadi formed the political-cultural platform Inqilab Mancha following the political upheaval and had been serving as its spokesperson.
On 12 December at around 2:20pm, assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured with gunshot wounds to the head and below the right ear.
He was initially taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Evercare Hospital, Dhaka. As his condition worsened, he was flown to Singapore by air ambulance on 15 December for advanced treatment. He died there on 18 December, about a week later, while undergoing treatment.
Following the shooting, Jaber filed a case with the Paltan Police Station on 14 December on charges of attempted murder, which was later converted into a murder case after Hadi's death.
