Prime Bank hosts sustainability session for RMG and textile clients
Prime Bank PLC has hosted its first customer awareness session on carbon accounting, net-zero pathways and sustainability reporting for its ready-made garments (RMG) and textile clients at the bank's head office.
The session was organised with technical support from Swisscontact and SEBA Limited under the PROGRESS project, funded by the embassies of Sweden and Switzerland. The project seeks to promote sustainable growth in Bangladesh's RMG sector by strengthening workforce development—particularly for women—advancing energy-efficient and ESG practices, and building the capacity of local service providers.
In his welcome remarks, Faisal Rahman, additional managing director and chief business officer of Prime Bank, said sustainability must be viewed as a shared responsibility. "At Prime Bank, we believe in creating shared value—your transition is our transition. This journey is not a burden, but an opportunity to upgrade processes, boost efficiency, attract global buyers and position Bangladesh as a climate-smart manufacturing hub," he said.
The session brought together chief financial officers and finance and compliance representatives from 55 RMG and textile companies, reflecting strong industry interest in aligning operations with global buyer expectations on climate action and ESG compliance.
Md Ziaur Rahman, deputy managing director and chief risk officer of Prime Bank, along with other senior executives of the bank, attended the programme, underscoring Prime Bank's commitment to supporting clients in their sustainability transition.
