4 more cops give confessional statements over Sinha’s murder

Four more members of the police have given their confessional statements over Sinha's murder to the Cox's Bazar court today.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) presented the accused before the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah at 11am following the end of the second round of remand and there, the four police members confessed under section 164.

Two of them were taken to Senior Judicial Magistrate Delwar Hossain and the other two were taken to Tamanna Farah's courtroom to give the statements.

After that, they were taken to the Cox's Bazar district jail at around 5:30pm. Earlier in the morning, Rab took them to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for a health check-up.

The four accused are Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Liton Mia plus constables Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun.

Rab senior ASP Khairul Islam, investigating officer in the case, said that the court had granted a four-day remand in the second phase on August 24 to further question the four accused.

Following the court order, Rab started interrogating the four police members for the second time on September 6. They were brought to court today as they agreed to provide confessional statements.

Earlier, suspended Officer-in-Charge of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das, Inspector Liakat Ali and Sub-Inspector Nanda Dulal Rakshit were remanded for interrogation.

Pradeep was remanded for 15 days in four phases and Liakat and Nanda Dulal for 14 days in three phases.

Although Liakat and Nanda Dulal made confessional statements under section 164, Pradeep refused. Currently, they are all in jail.

Including the four police members, the court has received confessional statements from 12 people in the case, including three Armed Police Battalion members.
