BRAC Seed & Agro, bKash hold digital literacy workshops for northern farmers
BRAC Seed and Agro Enterprise, in partnership with bKash, has organised a series of digital literacy workshops in North Bengal to help farmers adopt safe and convenient digital financial services.
The initiative aims to promote cashless agricultural production, marketing and daily transactions, particularly among marginal farmers with limited access to formal financial services.
Three awareness sessions were recently held in Dinajpur, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh with the participation of 875 farmers.
Farmers were trained on opening and operating bKash wallets, maintaining PIN confidentiality, preventing fraud, and using both the app and USSD codes for routine transactions. The workshops also discussed cash-out procedures, agent-point costs, payment collection and basic financial planning.
Organisers said digital transaction skills will enhance farmers' financial security and support the transition of agriculture towards a more modern, technology-driven sector. With bKash accounts, farmers can now access essential financial services round the clock, reducing dependency on cash and enabling greater self-reliance in rural financial management.
