Bkash, Rajuk celebrate pahela baishakh at Hatirjheel
BKash, in partnership with Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK), marked Pahela Baishakh at Hatirjheel with a vibrant two-day festival showcasing cultural performances, a traditional boat race, and a colourful fair.
State Minister for Housing and Public Works, Ahammad Sohel Monzoor, and Engineer Md Reazul Islam, Chairman of RAJUK, inaugurated the celebration.
Festivities commenced in the morning at the Hatirjheel open stage, where artists welcomed the Bengali New Year with Boishakhi songs. Cultural groups performed throughout the day, while Baul songs in the afternoon added a rural flavour prior to the traditional boat race—the event's main attraction.
Ten teams from various regions participated, transforming Hatirjheel into a lively spectacle as synchronised rowing and crowd cheers filled the venue.
Visitors enjoyed performances by various cultural organisations, including music, dance, and drama. Concerts and entertainment continued into the night. Alongside these events, a Boishakhi fair in a rural setting offered a variety of traditional products and foods.
