Akij tableware moves ahead with new manufacturing plant
Akij Tableware is set to bolster Bangladesh's ceramics industry by launching a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility specialising in bone china, stoneware, and porcelain products.
This initiative underscores the company's commitment to advancing domestic manufacturing capabilities and adhering to rigorous international standards for quality and design.
The facility will be developed on approximately 500,000 square feet of land, with the plant occupying a significant portion of the site.
According to the project blueprint, porcelain will be produced on the ground floor, stoneware on the first floor, and bone china on the second floor.
The fully automated facility is expected to generate employment for approximately 2,400 people, contributing significantly to Bangladesh's industrial growth and job market.
The bone china unit will have a daily production capacity of approximately 21,000 pieces.
Stoneware production is projected at a combined 50,000 pieces per day.
The new porcelain unit is also expected to add 50,000 pieces per day to overall output, further strengthening the company's ability to meet rising market demand.
Monowara Begum, chairman of AkijBashir Group, laid the foundation stone for the project on 15 April 2026.
Officials of AkijBashir Group and Akij Tableware were also present at the ceremony.
At the event, company leaders emphasised innovation, self-reliance, and global competitiveness.
They noted that the new facility would foster employment, skills development, and national economic growth.
The project reinforces Akij Tableware's standing as a market leader and signals a promising future for Bangladesh's tableware sector.
