E-family court launched in Ctg, promising faster and paperless justice
The e-family court will handle five types of cases: divorce, restoration of conjugal rights, mohrana, alimony, and child guardianship and custody.
An e-family court has been officially launched in Chattogram, introducing a fully digital system designed to let citizens conduct family-related legal proceedings from home.
The initiative was inaugurated today (30 November) at the Chattogram District Bar Association auditorium.
The e-family court will handle five types of cases: divorce, restoration of conjugal rights, mohrana, alimony, and child guardianship and custody.
Liaquat Ali Molla, Secretary of the Law and Justice Division, said from filing applications to daily case activities, everything will now be completed online.
He added that the court aims to operate without paper, with litigants able to receive all case updates through SMS. For now, manual processes will run alongside digital functions during the transition period, he said.
Chattogram District Bar Association President Advocate Abdus Sattar described the court as a "paperless court", saying the necessary technology and software are already in place. He noted that the system will quicken the settlement of family disputes.
According to officials, individuals seeking services from the e-family court must register on the designated website by providing their national ID number, date of birth, full name, mobile number, email address, and a strong password.
