Ctg Development Authority fines Tk24 lakh over design, parking violations; Chef's Lounge sealed
Utsab Super Market owner fined Tk8 lakh, while Swapno Super Shop fined Tk11 lakh in separate drives.
The Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) has fined several establishments a total of Tk24 lakh for violations involving approved building plans, parking requirements and designated road space, while sealing Chef's Lounge restaurant in Agrabad for failing to produce required documents during an inspection today (27 August).
The enforcement drives were conducted in Halishahar and Agrabad Access Road areas, led by CDA Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain. CDA Special Magistrate Hamimun Tanzin, Authorised Officer-2 Tanzib Hossain and other senior officials were present.
The owner of an outlet of Utsab Super Market on Halishahar Access Road was fined Tk8 lakh for deviating from the approved building plan and failing to provide the required parking facilities. The owner was also ordered to serve two years in jail if the fine is not paid.
CDA Authorised Officer-2 Tanzib Hossain said the market authorities could not immediately produce the approved building plan during the drive. Inspectors also found that the commercial building lacked the required parking facilities, while vehicles were being parked on road space.
The building authorities submitted an undertaking and were given until 27 November to remove the unauthorised portions and ensure adequate parking. Further action will be taken if they fail to comply within the deadline.
During the same drive, CDA officials found that part of the boundary wall of another under-construction building in Halishahar had encroached on land designated for a road.
The CDA demolished the encroaching portion and fined the owner Tk5 lakh. The owner was also ordered to serve two months of rigorous imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
In a separate drive on Agrabad Access Road, Swapno Super Shop was fined Tk11 lakh. Of this, Tk7 lakh was imposed on the landowner and Tk4 lakh on the supermarket authorities.
The CDA also sealed Chef's Lounge restaurant in Agrabad after officials could not find the necessary documents or a responsible representative during an inspection of its operating approval, compliance with the approved building plan and use of the premises.
CDA officials said enforcement drives against violations involving approved building plans, building use, parking facilities and designated road space would continue.
