Coast Guard promotes electoral awareness among youth
The Bangladesh Coast Guard organised a public awareness programme titled 'Tarunnyer Utshob 2025' at Mirpur Government Bangla College in Dhaka on Monday (17 November 2025) as part of its ongoing social awareness and community engagement initiatives.
Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, media officer of the Coast Guard, confirmed the information in the afternoon.
He said that since its inception, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been working tirelessly to ensure the safety and welfare of coastal and riverine communities, while also conducting awareness programmes on various social issues.
As part of this effort, the one-hour session—from 11am to 12pm—focused on the Coast Guard's preparedness ahead of the upcoming national election, including riot control strategies and other operational readiness topics. Participants also received guidance on the electoral process, responsible voting, and avoiding misinformation, with an emphasis on peaceful and informed civic participation.
Around 300 students from the college actively took part in the session, which aimed to foster youth awareness, civic responsibility, and a culture of constructive engagement in the democratic process.
Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq added that the Coast Guard would continue to undertake such awareness activities in the future to build a more informed, responsible, and socially conscious generation.
