According to the ICT Access and Use by Households and Individuals Survey 2024–25, nationally 11.6% of individuals purchased online using the internet, with 6.9% in rural areas compared with 17.6% in urban areas. This disparity reflects stronger market access, delivery networks, and digital payment ecosystems in urban areas, highlighting geography as a key barrier.
