BNP keeps 2 Brahmanbaria seats open, Rumeen Farhana not among nominees
The party is believed to be reserving the two seats for its alliance partners
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has finalised its candidates for four of the six parliamentary constituencies in Brahmanbaria, though the party did not nominate its international affairs secretary Barrister Rumeen Farhana.
Rumeen's desired seat, Brahmanbaria-2, remains unfilled for now.
The BNP has not yet announced a candidate for Brahmanbaria-6 (Bancharampur).
The party is believed to be reserving the two seats for its alliance partners.
There is speculation that Brahmanbaria-6 seat may go to Zonayed Saki, chief coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolan.
Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan, the elder brother of Abdur Rahman Sunny and a close associate of Tarique Rahman, was also not given a nomination.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the names of the party's candidates for the upcoming 13th national election this evening (3 November).
Nasirnagar Upazila BNP President MA Hannan has received the nomination for Brahmanbaria-1 (Nasirnagar).
District BNP President Khaled Hossain Mahbub Shyamal has been nominated for Brahmanbaria-3 (Sadar and Bijoynagar), while BNP Chairperson's Adviser Mushfiqur Rahman will contest from Brahmanbaria-4 (Kasba and Akhaura).
Nabinagar Upazila BNP President Abdul Mannan has been nominated for Brahmanbaria-5 (Nabinagar) constituency.
Commenting on the nominations, Brahmanbaria District BNP General Secretary Sirajul Islam said, "The decision of party acting chairman is final. Candidates have been nominated after careful consideration, and we will work wholeheartedly for the party's chosen candidates."
