CA's aide refutes BGMEA president's claim of being denied appointment with Yunus
'I saw him with my own eyes attending a meeting held just a few days ago, chaired by the chief adviser, on preparations for Bangladesh’s graduation from the LDC category,' says Azad Majumder.
Azad Majumder, deputy press secretary to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, has said BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan was present at a recent meeting chaired by the chief adviser, refuting the trade organisation chief's claim that they did not get an appointment with the head of the interim government.
He said this contradicts the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association president's claim that he had not been granted an appointment for four months, Azad wrote in a Facebook post early today (29 October).
"The BGMEA president expressed frustration yesterday, saying he did not get an appointment with the chief adviser. But I saw him with my own eyes attending a meeting held just a few days ago, chaired by the chief adviser, on preparations for Bangladesh's graduation from the LDC category."
He added that the BGMEA president had directly raised several concerns of the association at the meeting.
Yesterday (28 October), BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan expressed deep frustration over not being able to meet the chief adviser for four months, despite repeated requests.
He made the remarks at a press conference in Dhaka, warning that policy decisions made without consulting the apparel sector could hurt export growth and investment confidence.
