IUB basketball club wins big at 2THE RIM 3x3
The Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) Basketball Club has emerged as the Champion in the All Age Boys division and secured the Runner-up title in the Co-Ed All Age division at the 2THE RIM 3x3 Showdown 2025 tournament, held on 11 July in Dhaka.
The tournament brought together 31 teams competing across three categories — Co-Ed All Age, All Age Boys, and U-18 — with matches played in round-robin group stages followed by knockout rounds.
IUB's All Age Boys team featured Taifur Uddin (Computer Science and Engineering), Mohammad Ishrak (Management Information Systems), Mukcith Khan Ishfak (Finance), Zarif Shabab (Finance), and Raisul Islam Durjoy (Finance). Mukcith was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in the division, recognising his standout performance throughout the competition.
In the Co-Ed All Age division, IUB was represented by Taifur Uddin (CSE), Ahasan Ameer Khan (CSE), Maha Murshed (CSE), and Nongmaithem Sanjana (Finance). The teams were coached by Mahmudul Hasan Shawn, whose leadership was instrumental in IUB's strong showing across both divisions.
The U-18 title was clinched by Flame Boys, with Mustangs Academy finishing as Runners-up. The event also featured teams from leading institutions, including Dhaka University, AIUB, and Daffodil International University.
IUB's achievement highlights the university's growing presence in campus sports, with students balancing academic pursuits and competitive athletics. The success reflects the growing talent and sports culture being fostered within the university community.
