Dhaka condemns killing of two Bangladeshis by Israeli attack in Lebanon
The government expressed profound grief and extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families.
The Government of Bangladesh has strongly condemned what it described as a "heinous attack" carried out by Israeli forces in Southern Lebanon yesterday (11 May), which resulted in the deaths of two Bangladeshi nationals.
The victims were identified as Shafiqul Islam, from Satkhira Sadar in Satkhira district, and Md Nahidul Islam Nahid, from Ashashuni of Satkhira.
In a press release issued today (12 May) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, the government expressed profound grief and extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families.
According to the press release, The Bangladesh Embassy in Lebanon is currently working with the relevant local authorities to complete the formalities required for the repatriation of the victims' bodies.
Embassy officials are also maintaining contact with the families of the deceased.
The press release also said, Bangladesh once again reiterated deep concern over the continuing violence and the mounting loss of civilian lives in the region.
The government called for maximum restraint and stressed the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law.
