BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today (18 July) alleged that their party is being deliberately targeted through various propaganda campaigns aimed at distorting the political landscape.

"Some individuals are continuously spreading misinformation against the BNP. Even from 10,000 miles away, propaganda is being circulated against Tarique Rahman. Yet, no one questions the government or the administration," he said while speaking at a rally organised by BNP's Barishal district and metropolitan units.

"Why are you spreading propaganda against Tarique Rahman without saying anything about them [administration]?"

He further remarked, "If your intentions were genuinely good, then the fallen autocrats would not have had the courage to re-emerge."

Rizvi claimed that students have taken to the streets after 16 years due to the leadership of Tarique Rahman. "He has called upon all party members to support the quota reform movement, declaring it the final battle for democracy."

He also noted that students have recently formed a political organisation and announced a "March to Gopalganj" programme. "Upon hearing this, Sheikh Hasina instructed her party members to eliminate those, who take part in the march, from earth. This led to the attack on NCP members," Rizvi claimed.

Highlighting the need for unity, he said, "This is our shoulder to shoulder struggle, for a democratic system. But why is there division in this fight today? Nothing can be achieved alone."

He noted that if the united strength they once had were demonstrated, "no fallen autocrat" would have dared to act.
