Dhaka-8: Army intervenes after NCP's Patwary called 'Bhua, Bhua' at polling centre
Several BNP-backed voters alleged that Patwary entered the centre with 100 to 150 outsiders
Tension briefly flared at Shahjahanpur Railway High School polling centre in Dhaka-8 today (12 February) after supporters of NCP candidate Nasiruddin Patwary met with chants of "Bhua, Bhua" (phoney) during his visit.
Army personnel later brought the situation under control and escorted him safely away from the centre.
The incident took place around 12 noon.
Several BNP-backed voters later alleged that Patwary had entered the centre with 100 to 150 outsiders, triggering the commotion and disrupting the otherwise peaceful environment.
A number of individuals then surrounded him and began chanting slogans, labelling him "phoney".
As tensions escalated, some attempted to chase him, further heightening the unrest.
Army members stationed at the centre intervened promptly and sought to calm the situation.
Within approximately 10 minutes, order was restored, and Patwary was escorted out of the polling centre.
Patwary's immediate response to the allegation could not be obtained.
