2 suspects confess to mugging youth in Shyamoli
The suspects voluntarily agreed to give confessional statements under Section 164, which the officer requested be recorded

Two suspects arrested in connection with the mugging of a youth in the capital's Shyamoli area have confessed to their involvement at a Dhaka court.
The incident, which occurred on 11 July, involved the victim being robbed of all his belongings at knifepoint in broad daylight.
The accused, identified as Md Aslam and Md Al Amin, were presented before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court today (18 July), Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Abdur Razzak, the investigating officer of the case, told The Business Standard.
The suspects voluntarily agreed to give confessional statements under Section 164, which the officer requested be recorded.
Metropolitan Magistrate Minhazur Rahman recorded their statements and subsequently ordered that the two be sent to jail, the officer said.
According to the case document, the victim Shimion Tripura, 30, was on his way to work on the morning of 11 July when three muggers on a motorcycle intercepted him on road no 2 in Shyamoli.
Brandishing locally-made sharp weapons, the assailants forced him to stop and robbed him of his bag, cash, mobile phone — and even his clothes and shoes.
The day after the incident, Shimion filed a case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.
CCTV footage of the incident later went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.
The video shows the victim walking with an umbrella when the three men, armed with sharp weapons, approach from behind on a motorcycle. Two of them confront the victim directly, while the third turns the motorcycle around and blocks his path from the front.
Two of the armed men were wearing helmets, while the third was shirtless. The footage also shows them intimidating the victim with their weapons and forcibly taking off the victim's shirt and shoes before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.
Following investigations and multiple raids, police arrested three individuals, Kabir, Aslam, and Al Amin, in connection with the incident.
