Fire in Shyamoli Shishu Hospital under control
The cause of the fire could not be immediately determined
A fire broke out in the basement of the Bangladesh Shishu Hospital and Institute in the capital's Shyamoli area today (20 April), which was brought under control after about half an hour of efforts by firefighters.
Confirming the matter, Fire Service media officer Anwarul Islam said the incident was reported at 12:38pm, prompting an immediate response. The first firefighting unit reached the scene at 12:48pm.
According to him, a total of four units from Mohammadpur and Kallyanpur fire stations worked to douse the flames and brought the fire under control by 1:05pm.
"No casualties were reported in the incident," he added.
The cause of the fire could not be immediately determined, he said.
