Telecom offers promising careers beyond communication

The telecommunication sector is no longer confined to just communication—it now encompasses fields like app design, artificial intelligence, and automation, making it one of the most promising career paths for tech-savvy youth, said Professor Dr Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan, Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET).
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the farewell ceremony of the ETE-19 batch organised by the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering (ETE) at the university's Central Auditorium on Sunday, 13 July 2025.
"In today's digital era, the telecom sector has evolved rapidly with technological advancements and growing internet accessibility. Its career potential has significantly broadened," he said, encouraging graduates to pursue this dynamic and expanding field.
Professor Dr Kazi Delwar Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Suman Kanti Das, Area Technology Manager at Grameenphone, were present as special guests.
The event was chaired by Professor Dr Md Jahedul Islam, Head of the ETE Department, while Dr Nurshedul Mamun, Assistant Professor of the department, delivered the welcome address. Professors Dr Md Azad Hossain and Dr Saiful Islam also addressed the gathering.
Outgoing students Nuzhat Mubassira and Md Nafizul Alam shared reflections on behalf of the graduating class. The programme was hosted by students Mehreen Binte Alam Sharma (20th batch), Tanmoy Dutta (21st batch), and Priya Dev (22nd batch).
