Summit appoints new MD and CEO of Summit LNG Terminal
Summit LNG Terminal Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. (SLNG), a key player in Bangladesh's energy infrastructure, has appointed Md Sayedul Alam as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
SLNG operates Bangladesh's second Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), with the capacity to regasify 500 million standard cubic feet per day (mmcfd) and store up to 138,000 cubic metres of LNG. The terminal is a joint venture between Summit and Mitsubishi Corporation, with financing led by Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), and operational support from PSA Marine, Singapore.
Mr Alam has played a pivotal role in SLNG since its inception. As Project Director, he led the development and commissioning of the offshore terminal at Moheshkhali, Cox's Bazar. The terminal connects to the national grid via a six-kilometre subsea pipeline and has consistently maintained high operational reliability. Before this appointment, Mr Alam served as Terminal Manager, overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring SLNG's exceptional availability.

With over 30 years of experience in the maritime and energy sectors, Mr Alam brings deep technical and leadership expertise in the development of offshore and onshore LNG and LPG terminals. His international career includes senior roles at MOL Tankship Management Asia (Singapore), Ocean Tankers (Singapore), and K Line (Japan).
Mr Alam holds a BSc in Marine Engineering from Bangladesh Marine Academy and an MBA from Murdoch University, Australia. He is currently pursuing a second Master's degree in Economics at North South University, Bangladesh. He also holds an Advanced Diploma in Marine Engineering from the Singapore Maritime Academy, a Class 1 Certificate of Competency (COC), and is a certified Class-1 Marine Engineer Officer by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
He is affiliated with professional bodies, including the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) in London and the Singapore Maritime Officers' Union (SMOU).
SLNG is part of Summit's broader energy portfolio and works closely with international partners, including JERA, to strengthen Bangladesh's energy security.
