BEPZA hosts annual financial conference 2025

Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) successfully concluded its first-ever Annual Financial Conference 2025, held from 7 to 8 July at the BEPZA Executive Office in Dhaka. The conference was formally inaugurated by BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, BSP, ndc, psc, with a welcome address delivered by A N M Foyzul Haque, Member (Finance), BEPZA.

On the first day, heads of accounts departments from BEPZA's eight Export Processing Zones and the BEPZA Economic Zone presented field-level financial challenges. A key highlight was the presentation by Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury, Chairman of Sonali Bank PLC and former Finance Secretary and Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh. He underscored the importance of financial accountability and constitutional obligations in public sector auditing and institutional governance.

On the second day, Member (Finance) delivered a presentation titled "BEPZA's Future Economic Roadmap and Strategic Investment Potential", outlining long-term strategies to reinforce BEPZA's financial foundation.

Md. Abdur Rahman Khan, FCMA, Chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), addressed the conference on "Tax-GDP Ratio and Investment Prospects in Bangladesh." He emphasised the need to increase the tax-to-GDP ratio to create broader investment opportunities and highlighted NBR's ongoing efforts to improve ease of doing business. He expressed a willingness to collaborate with BEPZA in the future.

In his concluding remarks, Major General Ziaur Rahman stated, "The insights and recommendations from this conference will significantly contribute to refining BEPZA's policy and budget framework. We are committed to building a modern, financially resilient, and investment-friendly institutional environment."

The event was attended by Md. Ashraful Kabir, Member (Investment Promotion); Md. Imtiaz Hossain, Member (Engineering); as well as Executive Directors, Project Directors, and officials from various BEPZA zones and departments.
