Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has extended his greetings to US President Donald Trump and the people of the US on the occasion of the country's Independence Day.
In a letter addressed to Trump, the chief adviser emphasised the common aspirations to uphold the principle of democracy and the values of freedom between the people of Bangladesh and the United States.
"I would like to congratulate you and the friendly people of your great country on the auspicious occasion of the 249th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America," reads the letter.
"Bangladesh and the United States are great partners. Our two countries share common aspirations among our people to uphold the principle of democracy and the values of freedom. Based on these, we have been working together to deepen and broaden our relations for more than five decades. Our bilateral engagements have flourished beyond the spheres of trade, investment, development cooperation, and people-to-people contact," the letter adds.
It reads, "Bangladesh remains committed to continuing its collaborative efforts in all relevant areas, including trade and investment, energy, agriculture, science and technology, education and research, climate change, and peace and security. I strongly believe that the partnership between our two countries and the people will be further strengthened in the days to come."
"I wish you and your family good health and happiness, and the people of your great country continued peace and prosperity. Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration," reads the letter.
