Yunus hails NCP’s determined participation in polls under Nahid’s leadership
He noted that the NCP, formed just a year ago, contested the polls from 30 seats, won six and competed strongly in several others.
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has congratulated Nahid Islam, convener of the National Citizen Party, on its performance in the 13th national parliamentary election.
The chief adviser said in a message today (14 February) that the NCP's participation in the election under Nahid's leadership with courage, determination and confidence will be remembered as a significant chapter in Bangladesh's democratic history.
He noted that the NCP, formed just a year ago, contested the polls from 30 seats, won six and competed strongly in several others. Yunus described this as a reflection of youth confidence, aspirations and democratic spirit, not just electoral numbers.
Recalling the July Uprising, Yunus said Nahid's leadership and courage made the effort focused and goal-oriented. The dedication of party members inspired deep gratitude across the nation, and Yunus personally expressed respect to all involved.
He added that working with Nahid in the interim government's Advisory Council was valuable, noting his efficiency, knowledge, policy focus and understanding of administration.
Yunus emphasised that democracy grows when new voices and ideas emerge and generational bridges are built.
He said the NCP's success showed the youth's readiness to trust principled politics and underlined the responsibility to maintain this trust.
He hoped the party would strengthen democracy through constructive, responsible political practice.
