All banking operations of state-owned Rupali Bank PLC will remain suspended for five days, from 4 to 8 July, to facilitate the relocation of its data centre.
The decision was approved by the Bangladesh Bank following a formal request from Rupali Bank.
The central bank's Department of Offsite Supervision (DOS) issued a circular today (1 July) confirming the temporary suspension.
According to the DOS circular, the closure has been approved under Section 45 of the Banking Companies Act, 1991, to ensure a smooth and efficient transfer of the bank's data infrastructure.
Banking services are expected to resume on 9 July.
