No austerity in election budget allocation: Finance adviser

Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed today (1 July) assured that the government will not hold back on funding for the upcoming national elections.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP), the adviser said, "There will be no austerity regarding the allocation for the national election."
During the meeting, several key decisions were made. These included approval for container handling at the Chattogram port and the purchase of detailed area plan (DAP) and urea fertilisers.
The adviser also said decisions were taken regarding the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is expected to boost fertiliser supply in the country.
"In addition, the committee approved a project for the renovation of 30 schools in the Rangpur region," he added.
