CEC leaves for Canada tonight to observe expatriate voter registration

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin is set to leave Dhaka for Canada tonight (4 September), where he will observe voter registration activities among expatriate Bangladeshis.
The CEC's Personal Secretary Mohammad Ashraful Alam confirmed the matter today.
According to an office order signed by EC Deputy Secretary Md Shah Alam, the CEC is scheduled to return home on 18 September. In Canada, he will attend the inauguration of voter registration and oversee the distribution of National Identity Cards (NIDs).
During his trip, the CEC will visit Toronto and Ottawa from 5 to 12 September and monitor registration and NID distribution activities.
He will then spend 13-15 September in Vancouver for personal engagements.
Currently, the Election Commission is conducting expatriate voter registration activities through embassies in 17 stations across 10 countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Kuwait, Qatar, Malaysia, Australia, Japan, and Canada.
Around 50,000 applications have been received from expatriates in these countries.
