Former Indian captain MS Dhoni has filed a trademark application for the term 'Captain Cool', a nickname that reflects his calm and composed leadership style on the cricket field. According to the Trade Marks Registry, the application has been marked as 'accepted and advertised', and was officially published in the trademark journal on June 16.

The trademark has been registered under categories that include sports training, coaching, sports facilities, and related services. Dhoni's filing was made on June 5. Interestingly, another entity, Prabha Skill Sports (OPC) Pvt Ltd had previously applied for the same phrase. However, their application currently holds a status of 'rectification filed', indicating a correction process.

Dhoni was recently named to the ICC Hall of Fame Class of 2025. He joins the prestigious list alongside Australian legend Matthew Hayden and former South African opener Hashim Amla.

"Celebrated for his calm under pressure and unmatched tactical nous, but also a trailblazer in the shorter format, MS Dhoni's legacy as one of the game's greatest finishers, leaders and wicketkeepers has been honoured with his induction into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame," the ICC statement had said.

The ICC praised Dhoni's remarkable career while highlighting his greatness extended beyond statistics to include extraordinary consistency, fitness, and longevity. His captaincy was marked by calm leadership, sharp tactical instincts, and a series of historic triumphs.

The 43-year-old took over as captain in 2007 and immediately made his mark by leading India to victory in the inaugural T20 World Cup. He followed it up with wins in the 2011 ODI World Cup on home soil and the 2013 Champions Trophy in England, becoming the only captain to win all three ICC white-ball trophies.

Under his leadership, India also briefly held the No. 1 spot in the ICC Test rankings which registered his legacy as one of the most influential captains in the history of the game. He is also known for backing young talent, and played a key role in shaping the next generation of Indian cricketers.
