Snowtex Outerwear Ltd wins national environment award 2024

Snowtex Outerwear Limited has been awarded the National Environment Award 2024 by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change for its institutional contribution to environmental conservation and pollution control.
The award was officially presented on 25 June at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre during the inauguration of World Environment Day, the National Tree Plantation Campaign, the Environment Fair, and the Tree Fair. Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry, handed over the award to Md Tofazzal Hossain, Director (Operations) of Snowtex Outerwear Ltd.
Earlier, on June 2, 2025, the ministry announced Snowtex as one of three institutions selected for national recognition. Senior Assistant Secretary Sabrina Rahman issued the official notification.
Snowtex Outerwear Ltd, a concern of Snowtex Group, is based in Dhulivita, Dhamrai, on the outskirts of Dhaka. Surrounded by lush greenery, the factory is a model green facility that employs over 9,000 workers. Its initiatives include zero waste generation, sustainable ETP operations, and a range of eco-friendly practices.
The ministry recognised Snowtex's environmental initiatives, which include the annual distribution of 100,000 free tree saplings, afforestation on 80 per cent of factory land, and substantial use of solar power. The factory reuses 100% of its treated wastewater for gardening, toilet flushing, and car washing.
Additional sustainability measures include reducing plastic usage by over 90 per cent, eliminating single-use plastics, promoting the use of reusable bags, and implementing worker awareness programmes. Energy- and water-saving technologies have been installed throughout the factory, including LED lighting, solar panels, inverter-based machines, gas boilers, and water-saving taps.
Snowtex also operates a modern Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) and applies a sustainable production management system that engages its workforce—a model that has received international commendation.
Md Tofazzal Hossain expressed gratitude for the recognition, saying, "We built this eco-friendly factory to combat climate change. This award is a proud moment for all of us." Mosharaf Hossain, Director (Group Operations) of Snowtex Group, added, "We did not do this for awards. We believe in operating in harmony with nature. This recognition will inspire us to continue on this path."
