Govt forms 36-member national committee to observe mass uprising days in July-August

The government today (25 June) formed a 36-member national committee to oversee the observance of the mass uprising days in July and August, marking the anniversary of last year's student-led movement.
The committee will be tasked with organising and coordinating events to commemorate this historic uprising, according to release posted on Chief Adviser GOB page.
Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus will serve as the chairperson of the committee while Farooq E Azam, adviser to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, will act as the Co-Chairperson.

Advisers to different ministries of the government have been made members of the committee, while Vice-Chairman of the National Consensus Commission Ali Riaz, and commission members Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, Safar Raj Hossain, Badiul Alam Majumdar, Justice Emdadul Haque, and Iftekharuzzaman have also been included.
Additionally, the cabinet secretary, chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, senior secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, secretary of the Finance Division under the Ministry of Finance, and the foreign secretary are also part of the committee.
The 36-day long programme will be held from 1 July to 5 August to mark the anniversary of the July mass uprising.
The observance will begin on 1 July with prayers and memorial services in mosques, temples, pagodas, churches, and other places of worship in remembrance of the martyrs.
