Meeting public expectations biggest challenge for govt: Law minister
He said the scale of public expectation placed on the new administration is unprecedented.
Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman has said that meeting the huge expectations of the people will be the biggest challenge for the new government.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat today (18 February), his first day in office after taking the oath with his cabinet colleagues yesterday, he said the scale of public expectation placed on the new administration is unprecedented.
"The main challenge is the immense expectations people have from this government. We will continue to work tirelessly to fulfil those expectations," said Asaduzzaman, who resigned as the attorney general before the 13th national election and was elected MP with the BNP ticket from Jhenaidah-1.
The minister's remarks come as the newly formed cabinet begins its work today following the parliamentary polls held on 12 February, with the government outlining priorities aimed at delivering on public promises.
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman was sworn in as the prime minister yesterday afternoon (17 February) following his party's landslide victory in the election. His cabinet comprises 25 full ministers and 24 state ministers.
