Whistleblower testifies against Meta as states allege Facebook & Instagram were built to addict kids
Meta is facing a major trial over allegations that Facebook and Instagram were deliberately designed to keep young users hooked. Four US states, representing 29 states, accuse Meta of violating child privacy laws and downplaying the risks of social media harms. Whistleblower Arturo Béjar testified about alleged gaps between Meta's public reports and internal findings. Meta strongly denies the allegations.
