The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Sunday cancelled the bail of Jobayer Monir, a war crimes accused, for flouting the bail conditions.

The ICT also directed to send him to jail.

The tribunal passed the order after hearing a petition alleging that Jobayer went on a boat ride in Sunamganj breaking the bail's conditions.

The ICT prosecutor Zeyad Al Malum filed the petition.

Earlier, Jobayer was granted the bail on the conditions that he would regularly appear before the tribunal and stay at his son's home in the capital.

Defying the conditions, Jobayer visited his village home at Daulatpur in Shalla upazila of Sunamganj on July 31 to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha and returned to Dhaka on August 3.

In 2016, freedom fighter Rajani Das of Perua village in the upazila brought four charges of crimes against humanity in 1971 against several people, including Jobayer, his brother Pradeep Monir and uncle Mukit Monir.

The tribunal began its investigation into the allegations on March 21 in the same year.

On December 20, 2018, police arrested Jobayer, Zakir Hossain, Tota Mia Taylor, Siddiqur Rahman, Abdul Jalil and Abdur Rashid in a case filed by Rajani Das over the crimes.

Mukit Monir fled to America after filing of the complaint.
