15km traffic jam on Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge highway as post-Eid rush continues
According to officials, a vehicle accident on the Jamuna Bridge took time to clear, and toll collection slowed further due to the high volume of vehicles

A slow-moving traffic jam stretching around 15 kilometres formed on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge highway early today (15 June), disrupting travel for Eid-ul-Adha holidaymakers returning to the capital.
The congestion began on the Tangail stretch of the highway—from the eastern side of the Jamuna Bridge to Pungli—following a road accident on the bridge and increased pressure of vehicles.
Police said the disruption began late last night (13 June) and continued into this morning (14 June), causing significant delays for passengers and drivers.
According to officials, a vehicle accident on the Jamuna Bridge took time to clear, and toll collection slowed further due to the high volume of vehicles.
While vehicles heading towards the northern region were reported to be moving normally, Dhaka-bound traffic experienced long delays.
"Due to the road accident on the bridge, traffic has been slow all night, causing a jam. We hope that vehicular movement will normalise quickly," said Jamuna Bridge East Police Station Officer-in-Charge Fayez Ahmed.
Elenga Highway Police Outpost In-charge Mohammad Sharif said, "There was excessive vehicle pressure and a traffic jam in the Sirajganj section of the Jamuna Bridge. That is why vehicles are also congested in the Tangail section. However, police officers are working tirelessly to clear the traffic jam."
Police teams have been deployed at various points along the highway to manage traffic and ease the congestion.
